Who is Alena for?

The Alena app is designed to help people aged 18+ in Great Britain with mild to moderate social anxiety symptoms. If you are not in this group please consult a doctor before using Alena for mental health symptoms.

Is Alena a crisis management tool?

No - Alena is designed for mild to moderate conditions and does not offer crisis support. The following services can help if you are worried you may be in immediate danger: Rethink.org [UK], NHS [UK], MentalHealth.Gov [USA]. For other countries not mentioned here, search Google for ‘mental health crisis’ for the best resources for your area.

Does Alena offer diagnosis?

No - Alena is not a diagnostic tool. If you require a social anxiety diagnosis please consult a mental health professional.

What treatments does Alena offer?

Alena offers cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) following the Clark and Wells model of social anxiety. This is the treatment with the most supporting clinical evidence for social anxiety, and is recommended by NICE in its guidelines for social anxiety treatment. CBT exercises are available via the ‘Home’ tab in the app.

Does Alena offer non-CBT exercises?

Yes - in addition to a full course of CBT, Alena offers mindfulness, guided meditations, journaling and other exercises designed to support mental wellbeing. Tap on the ‘Recharge’ tab in the app to see these exercises.
